During the shortest month of the year, we challenged our 6th-12th graders to write a short poem! A haiku is a short Japanese poem consisting of three lines and a total of 17 syllables. The first and last lines of a haiku have five syllables and the middle line has seven syllables. Jefferson County 6th-12th graders could submit two haiku poems. We had almost 100 submissions and our judges had a difficult time narrowing down our winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 3 honorable mentions). Congrats to our winners and thank you to everyone who entered!
