As much as we can’t expect “Fall Weather” in Alabama for another couple of months (if at all), the Fall season is just around the corner! The first official day of Fall is on September 22nd kicking off with the Autumn Equinox (that just means the day is equal daylight and night).

It’s a Pumpkin-Spice World, We’re Just Living in it.

Pumpkin spice flavoring is it’s safe to say the most controversial fall flavoring. Caramel apple and pecan have nothing on this reviled and loved spice blend. If you’re of the mind of making an event of when you have your first PSL (pumpkin spice latte) of the season then why not become your own home barista?

Let’s Get Baking

There’s nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked bread. What could be more fall than warm baked goods served on a chilly day? (chilly days yet to be seen)…

Whether you’re in the mood to bake a pumpkin pie or a loaf of rye we’ve got you covered.

Enjoy the Great Outdoors

When that cool breeze does roll in where will you be? With your PSL and panini in hand, why not venture into the great outdoors. Alabama is an incredibly biologically diverse state: from our lakes and woods at Oak Mountain State Park, lush forests in Sipsey Wilderness, and the beaches of Gulf Shores or Dauphin Island there’s plenty to choose from. Linked below is just a small portion of this library system’s collection of hiking books for the state.

With all of these great activities you’ll be sure to want to take pictures to remember them by, and if you’re already doing that why not submit them to our Snapshots photography contest.
