The study of paranormal activity has a long and interesting history. Many ancient religious convictions are based on paranormal study, while the metaphysics of many ancient cultures included pantheons of ghosts, spirits, fairies, aliens, higher powers, and other supernatural phenomenon.
This month at Not Your Mama’s Book Club we welcome Kim Johnston and Shane Busby, co-founders of S.C.A.R.E., an Alabama group to discuss the paranormal phenomena they have witnessed and recorded in their investigations of such landmarks as Sloss Furnace, Carraway Hospital, as well as the Homewood Public Library. After experiencing spirits in her Chelsea home, Kim became curious. A year later she founded SCARE with her good friend Shane Busby and began her quest to better understand what happens to the human soul after death. She desires to help those that are experiencing paranormal activity in their homes.

Are you looking for a brand new kind of book club?
We think we have something you’ll enjoy. Instead of all reading the same book and then discussing, you get to do it your way … Read a book or an article, listen to a podcast or an interview, watch a documentary, or just bring your experiences or opinions and we will then discuss. Clearly, it is “not your Mama’s book club.” We usually meet on the first Tuesday of every month at 2 p.m. in the Boardroom.
This month our topic is: Not Your Mama’s Book Club: Paranormal Phenomena. Join us Tuesday, October 2, at 2p.m. in the Boardroom!
