To celebrate National Poetry Month, the Homewood Public Library hosts an annual poetry contest in April. This contest is open for any 6th-12th grader in Jefferson County. This year, the Library received over 150 entries. Thank you to all the students who took time to submit their writing.

The judges selected the following entries for placement. If your poem was selected, you have a prize pack waiting for you at the Homewood Public Library. Prize packs can be picked up in the Teen/Adult Department.

1st Place: Lauryn Whittlesey, 9th Grade at P.D. Jackson-Olin High School
2nd Place: Mary Gray Giardina, 10th Grade at Homewood High School
3rd Place: Katharine Whatley, 9th Grade at The Altamont School
Honorable Mention: Angela Grayson, 9th Grade at P.D. Jackson-Olin High School
