This book has a long history of controversy, beginning with its original publisher, Simon & Schuster, who dropped the book just before release here in the United States. From there, it has been challenged numerous times for its violent content, even as some sing its praises as a well-written and necessary comment on the self-indulgence that comes with a consumerist society.
