Nom! Nom! !Nom! Cooking With Teens (February)

I’d give you a cookie, but I ate it.

-Cookie MOnster

February is a time of LOVE! There is no better thing to love than COOKIES!

Did you know that the word “cookie” comes from the Dutch “koekje,” meaning little cake. British people call them biscuits. One type of “cookie” originated in Persia in 7th century AD. As people started to travel throughout the world, cookies became popular food to pack because they stayed fresh for a long time.

The chocolate chip cookie is America’s most popular cookie which actually was created by accident. Ruth Wakefield, owner of the Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts, added broken chocolate bar pieces into her cookie batter thinking that they would melt. They didn’t and the Chocolate Chip Cookie was born (nom!nom!nom!)

The world’s first chocolate chip cookie was about the size of a quarter. The world’s biggest chocolate chip cookie was baked by the  Immaculate Baking Co. and weighed over 40,000 pounds. It also happens to be Cookie Monster’s fave cookie!

So, ready to get your cookie on? To show our love to you, here are some titles that might inspire. Don’t forget to share with a friend! Happy Valentine’s Day!!
