Is Cracker Barrel a routine stop for you on roadtrips? Personally, I have many fond memories of going to Cracker Barrel during my travels- for the candy and the audiobooks! And, while I have developed enough willpower to forego those jelly jars full of Atomic Fireballs, I was very disappointed when they stopped carrying audiobooks. As a self-proclaimed Wanderer, as well as being chronically book-bosomed, I have spent many hours en route to *somewhere* and happily passed that traveling time by listening to audiobooks.
Fortunately, (in so many more ways than one) we have our libraries. Not only does Homewood Library have a huge collection of audiobooks you can browse through in the library, but you also have access to many more titles that are available digitally through the library’s Libby, Hoopla, and Overdrive apps.
Below are some of the more noteworthy, new fiction audiobook releases, ready and waiting for your next road trip.
Candy from Cracker Barrel optional.

Mary Jane
by Jessica Anya Blau
In 1970s Baltimore, fourteen-year-old Mary Jane loves cooking with her mother, singing in her church choir, and enjoying her family’s subscription to the Broadway Showtunes of the Month record club. The house may look respectable on the outside, but inside it’s a literal and figurative mess. And even more troublesome: the doctor is a psychiatrist who has cleared his summer for one important job—helping a famous rock star dry out- while he and his famous wife are living at the doctor’s house.
Over the course of the summer, Mary Jane has a front-row seat to a liberal world of sex, drugs, rock and roll- and group therapy. Caught between the lifestyle she’s always known and the future she’s only just realized is possible, Mary Jane will arrive at September with a new idea about what she wants out of life, and what kind of person she’s going to be.
