Ms. Laura is missing all of her storytime friends and put together a guide to doing a Sensory Storytime program at home!

The general outline for Sensory Storytime goes something like this:

  1. Welcome Song – A favorite to use is Hello Hello by Super Simple Songs
  2. Read Aloud Story – go to www.homewoodpubliclibrary.org to the Kid’s Page Reading tab at the top to access Tumblebooks for lots of great Story Book suggestions!
  3. Flannel Board or Puppet or any type of prop story – you can make props out of stuffed animals, figurines or even your own socks!
  4. Action Song (sometimes using bean bags or scarves or egg shakers or any item you have at home to substitute) – We love the Bean Bag Rock and Shake Your Scarves and I Know A Chicken
  5. Bubble Song (you can make your own bubbles with dishwashing liquid and water and using a circular object such as a hair tie to blow bubbles through) – some favorites to dance to include Popcorn and Pop and the Big Bubble Be Bop
  6. Playtime! – put out toys you haven’t played with in awhile to inspire creativity

Happy Storytime Everyone!
