To Be Read: Why Me? Why This? Why Now?

with No Comments

Do you have a stack of books that are on your “To Be Read” list?

So do we! Here’s a chance to mark some titles off your list!

Introducing the To Be Read Book Club – its pretty simple. Just pick a book from your list, and share it with the group. Discussion focuses on why you initially wanted to read the book, why it took so long for you to get around to it, your thought on the book and if you are glad you finally read it.

Participants are encouraged to update the group with new titles as they are read. The point is to gather with fellow readers to discuss books because let’s face it there is nothing as great as a good book! We hope you will join us with some of your own book stories!

To Be Read Book Club meets the first Thursday of every month at 2:00 p.m. -2:30 p.m. via Zoom.

Why Me? Why This? Why Now? by Robin Norwood

I spotted this book when it first came out and was intrigued but it was more than I wanted to spend on it at the time.  I tucked the title away, determined to look for it later on.  Three years later, I saw it on a remainder table at a much more pleasing price.  I bought it, took it home, and it landed on my book shelve unread.

Five or six years later, during a time of turmoil and crisis in my life, I noticed it on the shelf and pulled it out.  Within the first five pages I realized that THIS was THE book that was going to help me through this storm.  I felt it had been written just for me.  It was amazing and trans-formative.

The Universe provided a flashlight to help through this dark night of my soul.  I love this book.  A delightful addendum: a therapist friend that has an international podcast, knowing this story, contacted the author, Robin Norwood who has been retired for some time.  She agreed to be interviewed because the focus was going to be on this lesser known book of hers, that she said was her favorite of her books.

When I listened to the interview, I had exact reaction to the interview that I had had to the book, that what she said and shared was specifically for me!  I highly recommend the book.   ~  Leslie West
