This blog highlights Hispanic/Latinx writers. What is the difference between ‘Hispanic’ and ‘Latinx” anyway? It can be confusing!

Latinx is a term that describes someone who comes from or whose family comes from Central American or South America. Not all countries in Central and South America speak Spanish – some speak French, Portuguese – even Dutch!

Latinx is different from the term – ‘Hispanic’, which describes someone who comes from or whose family comes from Spain or a mainly Spanish-speaking country. Latinx can be also used as a pronoun in the place of Latino or Latina.

Elizabeth Acevedo

ELIZABETH ACEVEDO is a New York Times bestselling author of The Poet X, With the Fire on High, and Clap When You Land. Matt de la Pena

Matt de la Peña is the New York Times Bestselling, Newbery Medal-winning author of seven young adult novels (including Mexican WhiteBoy, We Were Here, and Superman: Dawnbreaker) and six picture books (including Milo Imagines the World and Last Stop on Market Street). Zoraida Cordova
