Did you know that March is National Craft Month? This truly makes me so excited! I mean, a WHOLE MONTH of just crafting! YES PLEASE!

National Craft Month was created in 1994 by the Craft & Hobby Association, “to help people rediscover and learn the about the benefits of crafting“.

With the increase of screens, it becomes a bit tough to pull your child off of whatever has enthralled them for that moment. When creating a space and time for creativity by crafting, it provides a better way of entertaining them for a duration of time and providing a opportunity for their imaginations to run free. Crafting is also another way to teach critical thinking and problem-solving, especially when they’re having to follow directions and patterns.

Don’t know where to start? No fear, the Children’s Department has an amazing collection of crafting books for you to check out and bring home to your family. Not only do we have some amazing crafting books, but every Wednesday, from 3:30 P.M to 4:15 P.M, we have a program called “Kids Create”, where K-5 through 5th Graders can allow that creative energy to flourish through the variety of activities we come up with for them to do!

Happy National Craft Month!
