6 Word Story Contest Winners!

The Homewood Public Library was excited to hold a 6 word story contest for teens! Legend has it that Ernest Hemingway placed a bet that he could write a story in just six words. If the legend is true, then he won with “For Sale: Baby Shoes, Never Worn.” We challenged our 6th-12th graders to see how creative they could be with just 6 words! The winners are listed below.

1st Place: “Black, white. Fat, Skinny. America’s classifications” – Vondrea P. (11th Grade at Hueytown High School)

2nd Place: “Love you Grandma”, “Who are you?” – Max M. (6th Grade at Homewood Middle School)

3rd Place: “Mother died, flew away, all alone” – Micaela V. (6th Grade at Homewood Middle School)

Honorable Mention: “Old dog. Tail wags. Last time” – Mary Claire I. (6th Grade at Homewood Middle School)

Honorable Mention: “Goldilocks. Eats food. Bears are hungry” – Keenan G. (6th Grade at Homewood Middle School)

Thank you to everyone who entered! We will be hosting a Teen Poetry Contest in April for National Poetry Month.
