Oprah Winfrey is one of the most successful talk show hosts and multimedia publishers in American TV history.
FUN FACTS:
At 16 she landed a job that paid her to talk. A Nashville radio station, WVOL, hired Oprah to read the news on the air, which she says she loved. This gig helped Oprah get her big break. In 1973, Oprah was a 19-year-old sophomore in college when she got a call that changed her life.
Her first job as a teenager was working at a local grocery store. At the age of 17, Winfrey won the Miss Black Tennessee beauty pageant. She also attracted the attention of the local black radio station, WVOL, which hired her to do the news part-time.
